  Industrial engineering (IE): Industrial engineering (IE)  means that deals with the optimization of processes, systems, and organizations. In the garments industry, IE improves efficiency, productivity, and quality and reduces wastage and cost. Some of the essential  tasks of the  IE professionals that perform in the garments industry : Line balancing : Optimizing the number of workers and machines on a production line to ensure that each worker is always busy and that the line is running as efficiently as possible. Work measurement: Developing standard times for tasks, which can be used to set production targets and to identify areas where productivity can be improved.
